Dolores Ruybal, District 4 resident and Englewood native, complements Steve's knowledge of city matters and matter-of-fact approach:
As an Englewood native including my parents having lived here since 1957, my family and I fully support Steve Ward for city council. First of all I need everyone to know how informed Steve is and how much information he can answer off the top of his head. He cares and wants what's best for Englewood, no pretense.
Please don't let people tell you what you want to hear. Steve will not stretch the truth to get your vote; he has a conscience and speaks the truth, which is so needed in today's toxic political climate. I walked with him, knocked on doors of people I know who have lived here my whole life. Steve was able to answer every question, without hesitation.
People may be running on a platform of no changes or "it's not the Engelwood I grew up in" but we can't stand still while progress happens around us. Who are the other candidates? Honestly, I don't know. I won't speak badly about them, but as I am now seeing their signs about the "4" it feels wrong and mud slinging. Can they not stand by their own policies alone?
Steve can.

I'll put my name beside him, no hidden agenda.
Rick Emmelhainz, District 4 resident, appreciates Steve's responsiveness to safety concerns near his home:
I am writing to endorse Steve Ward for Englewood City Council District 4 Representative. I have had the pleasure of knowing Steve for several years now, and I can confidently say that he possesses the necessary qualities and skills to continue representing District 4 in Englewood.
My first encounter with Steve was related to security concerns at Belleview Park. Living on its perimeter, we had a shooting incident in the park which alarmed everyone in our neighborhood. I reached out to Steve and received an immediate reply encouraging me to bring our concerns to Council which I did. Steve shepherded our request for changes through the process ultimately meeting with city departments to set a plan in action to improve lighting and police presence in the park adding greatly to our sense of security.
As a citizen of Englewood, I believe that it is essential to elect leaders who are committed to improving our community, and Steve is one such leader. He has demonstrated his commitment to the city through his thoughtful and considered opinions on a wide variety of infrastructure and growth initiatives. Steve’s perspective always adds new dimensions to the discussion not often considered by other Council members. These ideas pivot the discussion creating a wider view of the issue and ultimately better outcome for the city and his district constituents.
Steve believes in the future of Englewood and doesn’t want to see progress stalled by those who won’t consider change important to the city. Steve touts himself as “an independent thinker” who values the middle ground. As he says, “A city that does not change eventually dies.” Steve won’t push people in any one direction, rather works toward common ground and consensus among the Council, staff and citizens.
I strongly urge you to vote for Steve Ward on November 4th. I am confident that he will make a positive impact and work towards the betterment of our community. Please join me in supporting Steve and re-electing him as Englewood City Council Representative for District 4.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Rick Emmelhainz

James Worrell, Owner of Englewood Anytime Fitness thanks Steve for his dedication to the business community in Englewood:
Steve Ward has been vital to me as a business owner in Englewood. Steve helped me with city grant programs during Covid shutdowns, informs me about city events and connects me with the correct people at the city offices.
I have worked with Steve for over a year and I can tell you he truly cares for the city and people that live here. I one hundred percent endorse Steve Ward for city council district 4.
Citizen group Vibrant Englewood "recommends" a vote for Steve:
Vibrant Englewood recommends a vote for current District 4 Council Member Steve Ward, over Kim Wright, currently an at-large council member. While neither candidate in this race earned an endorsement from Vibrant Englewood, there is a clear contrast between the candidates on a number of issues, we believe that Council Member Steve Ward is the better choice for District 4.
Council Member Ward voted with Mayor Sierra in all of the votes that were highlighted above, supporting redevelopment to add housing in under-utilized areas of our city and continuing the city’s collaborative and strategic approach to the un-housed through the tri-cities plan. Kim Wright was on the opposite side of each of those votes.
Like Russell, Member Wright has a focus on culture war-type issues that take the priority away from the important topics that city council should address. For example, her campaign website lists “Election Integrity” as a top issue. Colorado has one of the most secure and most participatory election systems in the county, and Englewood’s elections are managed by Arapahoe County. Kim Wright wants to import a national conspiracy theory into Englewood government. Since she has been serving on council, Wright’s husband has been a consistent presence at city council, and he is frequently disruptive and disrespectful to the other council members and to other members of the public that he disagrees with.
On his campaign website, Council Member Ward says, “Should you entrust me with another term, I’ll focus on the thing that unites us – our shared love for Englewood – and look for common ground where policy discussions risk dividing us.” Vibrant Englewood recommends a vote for Steve Ward in District 4.
